If you love olive oil and tend to use a lot of it, you will probably get great pleasure out of owning an olive oil spray bottle. You can fill it with a bottle of your best oil and leave it on the counter top kitchen table for quick access. It has a great variety of uses in baking, grilling, and coating fresh salads and vegetables.
The spray bottle works great for adding a fresh coat of olive oil on fruit salads and fresh vegetables and spreads the oil evenly and cleanly. Olive oil adds a great texture and really brings out the flavor in vegetables and fruit. It’s also an easy way to add the healthy fats of olive oil to your diet without hardly knowing that it’s there.
You may also use the bottle to give baking pans a nice coating of oil to prevent sticking. And it is also perfect for grilling, where you can use it to baste various meats during stages of the grilling process. It may be used with great success for sautéing as well.
If you are currently using cans of artificial spray such as Pam, an olive oil spray bottle is the perfect substitute to improve the healthfulness of the food you prepare. Not only is a more healthy, but olive oil also taste a lot better with its complex flavor and peppery finish.
How to use and clean the bottle
To use the sprayer, fill the bottle only half way with your favorite oil (it is important not to fill it all the way!). Then all you need to do is push the cap over the nozzle that slides down into the bottle and then pump air into the canister to increase the pressure. The amount of pressure will determine the fineness of the mist in the amount of oil that is expelled by the sprayer.
A tip I can give you is to release the pressure in the bottle by twisting the top before each use. If you don’t do this, the mist will become increasingly fine to a point where it is not emitting enough oil, and the oil will hang in the air is a fine mist instead of actually coating your food.
To clean it, simply fill it with warm water and a little bit of detergent and spray until the nozzle is cleaned out.
Keep in mind that the spray bottle can be used not just for olive oil but virtually any type of vegetable oil including vinegar, dressings, and even juices used for flavoring such as lemon and lime. Many people opt to have two or more of the bottles on hand each containing various types of oils and flavorings.
